About this exercise

Spatial Stroop (also called the Simon task) tests whether you can ignore irrelevant spatial information.

An arrow appears on the left or right, pointing left or right. Respond to where it points — not where it is.

When location and direction conflict, response time increases. That's the Simon effect.

Smaller Simon effects mean stronger spatial selective attention.

The science

Each test is constructed using Item Response Theory (IRT) and Classical Test Theory (CTT) to ensure reliable measurement of knowledge and ability across different difficulty levels.

Questions undergo rigorous review including difficulty calibration, discrimination analysis, and distractor effectiveness evaluation to maintain high assessment quality.

How to play

  1. Watch the box for an arrow.
  2. Press ← or → for the direction the arrow points.
  3. Ignore which side of the box it appears on.
  4. Speed = score, but accuracy is required.
