Five principles
Every test, guide and article is checked against these before it's published. From research to published page
Four stages. Select one to see what happens in it.The research we draw on
Peer-reviewed journals and the technical literature of the major test publishers. Where findings are contested, such as the nature of general intelligence, the Flynn effect or the limits of brain training, we describe the debate rather than pick a side.
Screening and self-assessment tools
Our tests are designed for curiosity, self-exploration and cognitive practice. We explain the scoring model, item calibration and measurement approach openly on every result, in the methodology and here.
Who writes our content
Articles on intelligence, cognition and learning are written by contributors with backgrounds in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience or educational research. Test items come from contributors with psychometric or psychology experience, and every item is reviewed for content validity (does it measure what it claims?) and difficulty calibration (does its observed difficulty match its design?).
Final editorial responsibility rests with Emir B., who founded What's Your IQ in 2020 and remains its editor.
How we use software and AI
Content is written and edited by people, and human editorial accountability is non-negotiable for claims about human cognition. Software tools support the workflow: search, reference management, grammar checking, translation review and illustrative images.
Translations into our nine languages are reviewed by a human editor before publication.
