From WWI literacy screening to WWII classification
A Roman numeral on the classification form
Each recruit was assigned a Roman-numeral AGCT group from I to V, recorded on a classification form.1
Band limits as given in a Texas State University thesis.1 Some online summaries give different limits for Group V; we follow the thesis.
What a high or low group meant
A recruit's score arrives. Which group?
Drag the AGCT standard score. The form shows the group from the thesis's band limits and what the thesis says that group meant.
From WWII classification to the ASVAB
Note on numbers: some secondary sources give totals far above 1.75 million for all wartime administrations; none could be verified here. Online "AGCT" tests are modern recreations, not the Army instrument.2
