MrBeast's IQ

Jimmy Donaldson spent years studying one thing, why people keep watching, and built the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. That obsession is well documented. An IQ isn't.

No documented IQ score exists for MrBeast, and no reliable figure circulates. His mastery of the YouTube algorithm is real, but it's a specific skill, not an IQ measurement.

Greenville, North Carolina, 1998–2016

Uploading at thirteen, with almost nobody watching

Born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1998 and raised in Greenville, North Carolina, Donaldson started posting as “MrBeast6000” in 2012, at thirteen, gaming videos and estimates of other YouTubers' earnings. For years the channel barely grew.

With a small group of friends he began studying what made videos succeed, sometimes on daily calls for hours. He has been open about living with Crohn's disease, diagnosed as a teenager.

What he actually optimises

The retention curve

His leaked production memo tells staff that the first minute matters most and every second must earn the next. Add a hook and a mid-video payoff and watch how many viewers stay.

Stylised curve for illustration, not real channel data.
62% still watching at the end
