Haggerty Delta 2: grades three to nine, one dean's test

Melvin Haggerty was on the National Intelligence Tests committee and about to become Minnesota's dean of education. He also published two group tests of his own: Delta 1 for the first two grades and Delta 2 for grades three to nine.

This page used to call Delta 2 "one booklet, ten school years", reaching from grade 3 to the end of high school. The Smithsonian, which holds a copy with its manual, gives the range as grades three through nine and the copyright as 1920 [1]. We keep the page's address, but the account below follows that record. Also gone: claims that Minnesota districts used it for longitudinal studies through the 1920s and 1930s, and a five-subtest list. We found no source for either, and haven't yet seen the test's contents.

Which booklet would a pupil have sat?

Haggerty's two examinations split the school years between them, and the committee test he co-wrote overlapped both. Pick a grade.

1919–1921: about fifteen group tests for the youngest pupils

In June 1921 O. J. Johnson, a Minnesota doctoral student, surveyed the group tests for primary pupils. He dated the first extensive use to 1919, when Haggerty gave Delta 1 in the Virginia Public School Survey, and counted about fifteen examinations by the time he wrote [3]. The years and names below are as he lists them.
