Stroop-Test

Die klassische Stroop-Aufgabe. Nennen Sie die Tintenfarbe, nicht das Wort.

Stroop-Test

About this exercise

The Stroop task measures the brain's ability to override automatic reading and select a competing response.

You see color words printed in colored ink. Sometimes the word and ink match (congruent), often they do not (incongruent). Your job is to name the ink color.

Incongruent trials create interference because reading is automatic and faster than color naming. The gap between your RTs on congruent vs incongruent trials is the Stroop effect.

Minimising this effect is a marker of strong selective attention and cognitive control.

The science

Each test is constructed using Item Response Theory (IRT) and Classical Test Theory (CTT) to ensure reliable measurement of knowledge and ability across different difficulty levels.

Questions undergo rigorous review including difficulty calibration, discrimination analysis, and distractor effectiveness evaluation to maintain high assessment quality.

Spielanleitung

  1. A word will appear in a colored ink.
  2. Pick the button that matches the ink color, not what the word reads.
  3. Accuracy matters. Responses within 2.5 seconds are scored.
  4. Stay fast but deliberate.
